Wayne, Cal, Fred, Ed, Keystone Flight,
Outstanding letters and photos from you all - thanks very much.
Yes, it was magnificent flying that early in the morining at 0530 - we were up for 1/2 hour before the sun rose - neat to watch it do that!
Barbara was very happy about the flight back to her home - as you know, she is suffering with severe MS and it's getting progressively worse - this was probably the last time she will be going flying in a small plane, so thanks for making it so special for her, asking her questions about how she was liking it during the flight, etc.
Wayne, we did time the WX about as well as you can....and yes, some luck was involved, or perhaps the Good Lord just wanted this one to go well for her, because it was a super smooth ride the whole way down, and even on the way back after we climbed up a bit. Wayne, thanks for being the "weather monitor" with your radios, making sure we could actually keep going VFR! Fred, thanks for doing the same - between you two, we had it nailed. Cal and Ed, always great to have you along; you both love flying! Ed told me this was one of the longest X-C's he's flown - good on ya' you guys, for flying so early and getting in a C-150 when both of you have much bigger and faster planes you could have been flying that day. You all saved Barbara from sitting in a car for a good 5-6 hours, which is really tough on her...
To think we navigated past the Presidential Area (Camp David) the Vice Presidential Area, (St Michael) two hot Restricted areas, the DC ADIZ, the Baltimore Class B and Martin State Class D without any problems in a 4 ship formation was really neat!
Thanks to all of you for coming - it was really something - 404 nautical mile cross country -- a great breakfast in Williamsburg, and home before Noon! I got home, mowed my lawn for two hours, then drove right back to Dulles in VA. to pick up two guys from Europe - delays kept me there until about 11pm - long, but fun day for me!
Life is good in the Keystone Flight!
Mike Marra
